Joyful mess
Saturday 2pm - 8pm / Sunday 11am - 6pm
Saturday 2pm - 8pm / Sunday 11am - 6pm
Twice a year, we open up the workshops and you come discover the works, meet the people who make them, look at the spaces where they were born. This time, we felt like pushing the doors open a little further and giving you access to what happens in between all that: the ideas that circulate, the know-how that gets passed around, the objects whose use gets diverted, the trials, the failures, the collective enthusiasm, and this curious tendency to take very seriously things that are, a priori, not very useful at all.
For two days, motoco will therefore look like motoco. But with you inside it.
Half a floor will be turned into a funfair by artists who, as far as we know, had no particular reason to build a funfair. Elsewhere, you’ll be able to learn, try things out, print, tinker, repurpose, make, and leave with whatever you’ve made. Kids will be encouraged to use objects the way they shouldn’t, and adults will be able to do the same without having to borrow a kid. There will also be music, readings, performances, open workshops, things that are planned and probably a few others that aren’t yet. And a bar, because we’re not completely irresponsible.
The idea isn’t so much to show you how we create. No one here would really agree on the method anyway — we’d rather just let you step into the mess. You can look, of course, but it would be a shame to stop there.
