TRCUITE

TR CUITE is a design studio founded by Thomas Roger and based in Mulhouse (Alsace).

After earning a DNSEP (Master’s degree) in Design from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin in 2018, Thomas first worked under the name La Double Clique, a 3D design studio (3D printing and 3D imagery) in collaboration with graphic designer Trystan Zigmann, from 2018 to 2022. Since 2022, he has developed a personal artisanal practice focused on ceramics and wood.

TR CUITE creates handmade objects and small-scale furniture using various traditional craft techniques. Initially, the studio aimed to develop ceramic object collections. Over the past year, however, the focus has shifted toward woodworking, producing objects that “accompany” other objects: cases and containers, consoles and stools, shelves, and more.

The forms are primitive and inspired by traditional construction and assembly methods. The intention behind the project is to develop a sensitive artisanal practice that enhances our relationship to everyday objects while promoting responsible design.

“The last collection named LES RACINES (The Roots) talks about my childhood memories. I grew up by the sea, and my grandfather used to sculpt roots as if they were driftwood. This memory was my first design experience, and I feel like I’m continuing my grandfather’s work.”
