Contact
Shohyung Park was born in South Korea. She studied design in Japan and obtained both a Bachelor’s degree in Art and a Master’s degree in Design Process from the Haute École des Arts du Rhin (HEAR Mulhouse) in 2020.
She is also one of the founding members of the collective 반반 (“Ban Ban,” meaning “half-half” in French), alongside Hyesung Jung, Hyosook Kim, and Nahrae Lee artists working in the field of printed arts between Alsace and South Korea.
Half visual artist, half designer sometimes caught between two chairs Shohyung Park questions what happens around us and works through doubt. Her projects seek to penetrate beneath the surface, often by stripping away the exterior. At times, she examines our relationship to banality and everyday life by détourning chairs; at others, she closely observes the skin of clementines, seeing in it a marine pattern that might welcome us for a swim.
Her choice of medium shifts according to each project: painting, photography, animation, printmaking, volume, and more.
