Pierre Fraenkel
Visual artist / Stunt performer / Documentary editor / Sculptor of thought / Technician of the “en kakeu” / Shaman of the splats
Pierre Fraenkel: a one-man demonstration, a loosely built poem who renames and reinvents everything he touches. An urban legend has it that he is the spiritual fusion of Magnum (the TV series character) and Mary Poppins at the local bar.
Always tinkering in his studio or in the Alsatian pampa, he’s a kind of Sisyphus who enjoys sending little balls rolling down toward the unknown just to see what happens.
Pierre Fraenkel experiments with his life—more or less. It depends. You have to see. Precisely: he likes to make things visible. For him, every idea is a new starting point, and it shoots off in all directions—miraculously, everything ends up at the same place anyway.
His curious genius lies in his finest flaws: he remembers nothing, understands nothing, forgets everything, and makes fun out of almost nothing. He is a true “make-do artist.”
On December 26, 2017, at 10 p.m. and change, his artistic destiny shifted. Stepping on a scale, he realized he was a real adult—ten kilos heavier. Shock.
This event, a kind of mystical reset, marked the beginning of his flamboyant period, where beauty meets the incongruous, and the ugly brushes against the majestic.
