Ouissem Moalla

A graduate of the Haute École des Arts du Rhin, Ouissem Moalla (born in Stockholm in 1990) is interested in memory, impressions, and collective imaginaries. Through his various residencies in Europe, the Maghreb, and Asia, his research explores visible and invisible spaces, drawing on popular and literary cultures, myths, and canonical texts, with the notion of language as a recurring thread. His work takes the form of performances, installations, and hybrid formats through which he examines our relationship to places, cosmogonies, and belief systems.
Since 2023, together with Jérémie Descamps, an urban planner and PhD in geography, he has formed the art-and-science duo “Processus,” through which they explore mental representations of space and territory, as well as the collective memory of places, using dedicated research-creation protocols.
