Marc Guénard, born in 1973 in Antony (Hauts-de-Seine), is an independent photographer living in Mulhouse.
He discovered author photography in 1994 while attending photography classes taught by François Despatin in Choisy-le-Roi. This encounter proved decisive in shaping the direction of his artistic work, particularly in portraiture.
Marc Guénard is a photographer and a phenomenologist of perception, for whom image and light function as the instruments of a dialectical composition. His photographs reveal a beyond—where perception and the simple sensory knowledge we may have of an object or subject are elevated to full self-awareness.
His video works and photographic projects also question the conscious relationship individuals maintain with the objects in their environment, creating a face-to-face encounter filled with inquiry. By analytically photographing the invisible links between object and subject—blurring them into a shared, absolute sensitivity—he breaks free from the clichés of our society.
