David Batigne

Sculpture

Born in 2000 in Toulouse, David Batigne lives and works in Mulhouse following the completion of his DNSEP (Master’s degree in Art) in 2024 at the Haute École des Arts du Rhin.

David Batigne develops a practice born from the tension between origin and change. Raised between France and the Azores, he combines within his sculptures two landscapes that seem impossible to reconcile, yet continue to dialogue within him. He often works with bronze or cast materials, which appear to freeze movement: matter caught in the instant between eruption and solidification.

David Batigne’s works speak of a desire suspended between two worlds.
They hold onto that moment when destruction and birth become inseparable—a silent dialogue between proximity and distance, between what once was and what remains.”
