One place, 140 artists, 100 events per year, and a daily life full of improbable possibilities.

Motoco, the unusual in everyday life!

Motoco (MOre TO COme) is 8,500 m² of warm, matte brick, a hive where artists and craftspeople work — and sometimes sting — seven shareholders who are serious (but not only that), two passionate leaders balancing everywhere at once, local authorities who support and protect, a lot of love, a few slaps along the way, raw strength, and above all a megaton of energy and talent gathered together.

Motoco, the first redevelopment of the massive DMC industrial site.

In the heart of Mulhouse, 20 minutes from Basel–Freiburg–Mulhouse Airport, 5 minutes from Mulhouse train station, and 5 minutes from the Mulhouse Ouest exit of the A35, lies an incredible industrial site undergoing transformation: DMC.

The DMC site, 100,000 m² of warm brick

Building 75, which hosts the motoco project and its 140 artists, is a former industrial building of 8,500 m² located at the heart of the DMC site in Mulhouse.

The DMC site is the largest industrial site currently undergoing transformation in Southern Alsace. The challenge of its redevelopment concerns 12 hectares and 100,000 m² of built surface within a site that overall covers 70 hectares, in the heart of Mulhouse. Motoco represents the first project of this broader transformation ambition. Firmly creative and structured, its development reflects the regional commitment to converting the site into a place for mixed and emerging activities.

Building 75, an IBA Basel 2020–certified project

Building 75 has three floors, two of which are dedicated to artists’ studios, while the ground floor is shared between workshop areas and event spaces.

Motoco fosters a virtuous dynamic to offer a diverse, technical, and high-level creative environment. The combination of artists with diverse skills and event-based activities enables the creation of unique events, consistently enhanced by custom-designed sets and tailored storytelling.

After 10 years of existence, motoco continues to evolve and experiment, strengthening its local roots while opening up to international exchanges.

Supported by the City of Mulhouse and the Ministry of Culture, motoco is shaping its future with a commitment to coherence and to creating value for its local territory.
