Sculpture is the suggestion of an object in space.<\/p>\n

Marc Thebault\u2019s approach seeks to reverse this premise, suggesting a space* through an object.<\/p>\n

From fleeting, inexpressible emotions experienced in a specific moment and place, he selects those he wishes to remember. Through plays of shadow and light, transparency and reflection, matter and materials, he strives to translate them into images or sculptures.<\/p>\n

His artistic propositions are conceived as points of passage between spaces* and objects. These objects function as motifs, giving form and expression to the spaces they evoke.<\/p>\n

*whether natural or cultural, poetic or scientific<\/p>\n

Poetic writings underpin and accompany his visual work (Ed. The Onslaught Press, Oxford).<\/p>\n

Under the label \u2202cm, since 2011 he has been developing artistic projects in dialogue with contemporary science, in collaboration with Carole Ecoffet (CNRS researcher \u2013 IS2M, Mulhouse).<\/p>\n

A resident at Motoco since August 2013, he uses his studio to conceive, experiment, and model his projects. Their actual production is carried out in specialized workshops or companies depending on the chosen materials (Cadindus, Mulhouse \/ CIAV Meisenthal \/ ET2R, Illzach \/ Brasserie du G\u2019sundgo, Eschentzwiller, etc.), or more recently during international residencies (Suzhou and Dingsu, China \/ Studio Bilwara, Bangalore, India).<\/p>\n
