A journey to escape oppression, a journey toward freedom. Though distant in time, this story feels strikingly close. One can easily imagine the hardships of a life on the run, yet Christiane prefers to see it as an epic adventure\u2014a discovery of the world and its beauty. A powerful legacy that continues to accompany and nourish her work.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"758\" data-end=\"1111\">Everything begins with fabrics charged with history. In her ancestors\u2019 journeys, these fabrics were used to transport jewelry from one place to another. This heritage was entrusted to her with a deeply personal conviction: \u201cYou will make something beautiful out of it.\u201d A mission that was initially difficult to bear, then came a turning point, an idea.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1113\" data-end=\"1572\">For the past 18 years, she has worked with various techniques\u2014drawing, acrylic painting, pastels, collage\u2014to give these fabrics a new life without erasing the indelible traces of the past. The story of a journey. Hers, theirs, yours. A path guided by the stars and her instinct. She paints, folds the fabric, and begins again, leaving uneven, scattered traces. One can see roads, constellations\u2014paths one may choose to follow or not. A cartography of freedom.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1574\" data-end=\"1809\">Her work resonates particularly strongly in Mulhouse. The pursuit of beauty through textile work echoes the city\u2019s industrial past. Mulhouse was shaped by waves of migration\u2014sometimes chosen, often forced, but always full of adventure.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1811\" data-end=\"2067\">From February 5 to April 26, 2026, you will be able to discover her story and the story of her creations, both deeply intertwined. Five works, all created at Motoco, will be exhibited at La Kunsthalle.
